Education Placement

Congratulations on your decision to pursue a career in education. The education courses offered at Broward College will help you take the first steps of your journey to become a teacher.

Broward College is committed to ensuring that students balance their theoretical knowledge with experiential learning. The Office of Education Placement exists to provide every student with an early opportunity to gain practical experience in a school setting. Students are required to complete 15 hours of field experience for each of the two prerequisite courses, which must be taken at the freshman/sophomore level:

EDF1005 Introduction to Education (prerequisite for EDG2701)
EDG2701 Teaching Diverse Populations

[A third common prerequisite course - EME2040 Introduction to Educational Technology (CGS1061 or basic computer skills are a prerequisite) - does not require field experience]

Both EDF1005 and EDG2701 require 15 hours of early field experience each.
