Types of e-Learning Courses If you haven't read the About e-Learning section to the left yet, start there for information on the different course formats, as well as course requirements, how to get started in e-Learning. How e-Learning Courses Work Whether you are taking online, blended, or web-enhanced courses, you will log in to the college's learning management system, Blackboard, to access the online portion of the class. Blackboard has built-in tools such as e-mail, discussion forums, a grade book where you can view your grades and assignments, a testing center, and a tool that allows you to upload various types of documents to submit to your instructor for grading.
All the work you do online (with the exception of tests in some cases) will be done asynchronously, which means on your own time. The classes have specific start and end dates, and you will have deadlines for when assignments are due, but you won't have set required times where you have to be online. That means you can log in early in the morning, late at night, or any time you have some free time to work on your class.
Available Courses To view a complete list online and blended courses to see what sections are still available this term, go to the Class Schedules page and scroll all the way to the bottom. Click on the links under e-Learning. (These pages can take a minute or two to load.) Be sure to read the course notes to see if there are any face-to-face requirements or a required orientation. Refer to the Degrees and Programs section in the left navigation area to view a list of courses required for each of the full degree programs that can be obtained online.
Cost of e-Learning Courses Online Courses - Broward College's tuition and fees are among the most affordable in Florida. Students enrolled in online courses pay the regular college tuition and fees in addition to a distance learning fee of $5.75 per credit hour. However, students in online courses do not pay lab fees.
Blended and Web-enhanced - Students enrolled in blended and web-enhanced classes do not pay the distance learning fee but may pay a lab fee where applicable.
The college's tuition and fees are subject to change without notice. Explore BC's Financial Services to learn if you might be eligible for financial help paying for college costs.
Now, check out the "Register for Courses" area to the left that reviews how to register and what you should do before and after you register.
