Broward College Professor has a new identity and a new book

Many of you might know her as Dawn Ranish adjunct biology professor. But, I bet most didn’t know she is also Dawn Maslar author of the new book The Broken Picker Fixer From Heartbreak to Soulmate: Finding the Love you Desire in 12 Weeks or Less.

Dawn wrote her new book under her maiden name of Maslar. She says the name Ranish was a result of her own broken picker. A Woman with a broken picker is attracted to men that are not right from them. Robin Norwood described this attraction in her classic book Women Who Love Too Much. She states. “...many women become obsessed with the wrong men - men who are emotionally unavailable, addicted to work, alcohol, or other women – men who cannot love them back.”

The book was created as a result of the author’s personal experiences. After many years of struggling with on-again off-again relationships, Dawn found herself at an emotional bottom. She had to come to grips with her own broken GPS (Guy Picking System). She learned that an attraction to men who treated you badly or are not emotionally available is an indication that a part of you needs to be healed -- that no amount of changing your outside circumstances such as behaving differently, dressing differently, or picking different men was going to fix a broken picker. What was needed was an inside change.

She was given suggestions which she combined with a course of action that led her out of her despair. She learned that the pain of childhood shows up in our choice of relationships. The good news is that it can be fixed. The Broken Picker Fixer walks the reader through a series of activities that specifically designed to address the insidious symptoms of a broken picker. First, it explains how to expose and heal past pain that can be sabotaging your happiness. It provides guidance on applying positive affirmations to rewrite those negatives tapes that block us from our true heart’s desires. Finally, it provides the reader with practical exercises designed to help them discover what they truly desire in their lives and assists them in finding it. This unique book also provides web support with free audio downloads and documents to enhance the reader’s experience.

Dawn was compelled to share with the reader her experience, strength, and hope in the anticipation her work would benefit other women having similar struggles in their lives. She was fortunate that a path was revealed to lead her away from her pain and misery into a life she had only dreamed she could live. She was given guidance from many mentors, but could not find a particular book to assist her. She decided to do as the author Toni Morrison instructed, “...if there is a book out there you need to read but it has not been written yet, then you must write it.” The Broken Picker Fixer was that book for Dawn. She wrote this book in order to help other women.

The book is available through Amazon or her website at www.brokenpickerfixer.com. She is interested in getting feedback on the book, so please to let her know what you think, you can e-mail her at brokenpickerfixer@yahoo.com.
