Biography Information
:
Patti
Barney
serves
as
the
vice
president
for
information
technology
and
institutional
effectiveness.
She
has
28
years
of
progressively
responsible
experience
at
the
college.
She
is
responsible
for
the
collegewide
strategic
technology
plan,
has
district-wide
responsibility
for
all
technology
infrastructure,
enterprise
applications,
telecommunications,
desktop
computing,
web
services,
institutional
research,
planning
and
effectiveness
and
supports
instructional
technology
at
the
college.
VP
Barney
earned
several
associate
degrees
from
Broward,
a
bachelor's
degree
from
Barry
University
and
a
master's
degree
in
library
and
information
studies
from
Florida
State
University.
She
traveled
to
Asia
with
a
team
to
deploy
and
implement
transparent
student
support
services
at
the
Center
for
American
Education.
The
purpose
of
the
visit
was
to
prepare
the
Center
for
accreditation
by
the
Commission
on
Colleges
of
the
Southern
Association
of
Colleges
and
Schools.
The
program
went
through
a
successful
accreditation
process,
and
provides
students
the
option
to
complete
their
general
education
classes
in
Singapore,
and
then
transfer
to
a
U.S.
university
or
college
to
complete
a
bachelor's
degree.
In
2010
she
was
selected
to
serve
on
the
SACS
on-site
visiting
team
for
Midland
College
in
Texas.
VP
Barney
is
leading
an
effort
to
integrate
planning,
budgeting,
assessment
and
evaluation
by
creating
an
online
effectiveness
framework
that
will
be
used
to
institutionalize
continuous
improvement
at
the
college.
VP
Barney
serves
as
an
executive
committee
member
and
vice
chair
of
the
Florida
Community
College
Software
Consortium.
She
is
a
member
of
the
iCoast
CIO
Council
and
OneBroward
Board
of
Directors.
She
is
also
a
founding
member
of
the
SAS
Community
College
Customer
Advisory
Council(CCCAC)
where
she
promotes
Broward's
strategy
on
institutional
intelligence
nationally.
Under
Barney's
leadership,
Broward
recently
received
the
Software-AG
Innovation
and
Excellence
award
and
was
named
one
of
the
top
ten
Digital
Community
Colleges
according
to
the
Center
for
Digital
Education.
She
has
been
named
a
Distinguished
Alumna
of
the
college,
and
continues
to
pursue
her
passion
for
enhancing
teaching
and
learning
through
the
use
of
technology.
