What is the Memorial Healthcare System Scholarship?
It is a scholarship program designated for individuals interested in a career in one of the Health Science programs offered by Broward Community College. The following Health Science Programs are currently available at Broward Community College for scholarship opportunities:
Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) | Radiography (X-Ray) |
| Nursing | Respiratory Therapy |
| Physical Therapy Assistant | |
(Each of the above scholarships are awarded on a need basis which is determined by the Memorial Healthcare System. Therefore, the number of scholarships awarded is based on this need, and will vary each year.
NOTE: There is always a possibility that no (zero) scholarships maybe awarded.)
The Memorial Healthcare System Scholarship awards are based upon merit. Therefore, the Scholarship Coordinator will check your GPA, references, and talk with your instructors. If you qualify, you will be invited to participate in a personal interview. If you are selected to receive a scholarship, the cost of your tuition (required courses) and required textbooks will be paid.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are receiving other types of financial assistance, the amount of scholarship money you could obtain and the length of your employment obligation may be affected.
What are my obligations under this program?
If you are selected to receive a Memorial Healthcare System Scholarship, you must remain in good academic standing throughout your entire Health Science Program. Upon completion of your degree, you will be required to work, one year for each year of education paid, at one of the Memorial Healthcare facilities. Hence, you would be obligated to an employment agreement equal to the number of years you were sponsored. Employment opportunities available at:

Memorial Hospital West 703 N. Flamingo Road Pembroke Pines, FL 33028 | |
As an employee, your pay and benefits would be the same as any other entry level person of the same position! In other words, you would not receive any less pay because you received scholarship funds during college.
What are the requirements to apply for the Memorial Healthcare System Scholarship?
You must be officially notified of acceptance and be enrolled in the health science program of your choice. To fulfill this requirement, all observations and necessary prerequisite courses must be completed, and formal acceptance received prior to applying for a scholarship. Therefore, you would submit your scholarship application in the first semester you were accepted into your specific health science program.
