Italy Summer Study Abroad!

  • Italian I (ITA 1120) and Italian II (ITA 1121)

Program Description:

This program will be based in Urbino, Italy, which is located about four hours from Rome. Urbino is a small picturesque Renaissance city in the northeastern part of central Italy. It is about 40 minutes away from the beaches of Pesaro, Rimini, and Riccione, and three hours from Florence and Venice. During the Renaissance, it was one of the most renowned intellectual centers in Europe, and the home of Raffaello, Bramante and Piero della Francesca. Students will have the opportunity for total immersion into Italian life and culture, and constant use of the Italian language. Students will take their classes and live at the University of Urbino.

Program Fees:

Approximately $5050. Trip cost may fluctuate, contingent on airfare and enrollment. The program fee includes round-trip airfare, bus transportation from Rome airport to Urbino and back. One day weekend excursions by chartered bus to Assisi, Gubbio, San Marino, and Loreto. Transportation and lodging at four-star hotels for Florence and Rome, room and board at the University of Urbino dormitories and dining halls. Meals consist of lunch and dinner. Breakfast is optional at the student's expense. Fee also includes cell phone for use in Italy and trip cancellation insurance in case of withdrawal due to illness. Excursion to Venice is optional (by train) with an additional fee of $400.

Housing:

Students will be housed in the University of Urbino dormitory complex. Each student will have a single bedroom adjoined by a common kitchen, bathroom, living space and rooftop terrace overlooking the valley outside the city of Urbino. Dormitory assignments will be arranged upon the students' arrival in Urbino..

Cultural Activities:

One-day weekend excursions to Assisi, Gubbio, San Marino, and Loreto. Weekend excursions to Florence and Rome.
