The following is a brief description of the audiovisual services The
North Campus LRC is currently offering to faculty and staff. We value
your input, so please let us know if you require additional services
or have suggestions for improvement.
Laptop Computers for Faculty Check-out
Both IBM and Mac laptops may be checked out on a short-term basis to
faculty who are working on special projects or who need to make a presentation
at a meeting or conference. Requests for laptops must be approved in
advance by the appropriate department head and extended checkouts can
be made depending upon the availability of equipment.
Closed Circuit TV (CCTV)
The Closed Circuit TV system makes it possible to transmit television
programming originating in the form of off-air signals (local stations
or satellite), videotapes, or videodisks from the master control room,
located in Learning Resources, to any classroom on campus. Simply submit
a Media Scheduling Request reflecting the title of the item if it is
in our collection; if the item is not in the College's collection, please
supply it.
Please indicate the start time and the location (building #/room #)
for the presentation. If it is something that needs to be played over
several class meetings, please indicate the desired end times as well.

Media Production Workroom #121
This workroom is equipped with a variety of materials and equipment
for use by instructional staff in preparing classroom-teaching materials.
Equipment includes a copy machine capable of making two sided, collated
copies, a binding machine, paper cutters, laminators, a dry mount press,
a label maker, a large poster printer, a scantron test scoring machine
and a worktable for your media production convenience.
Media Request Form
A signed and completed Media Request Form needs to be received at least
24 hours in advance for scheduling Learning Resources materials and
equipment. Please provide as much detailed information as possible.
Please contact us at extension 2261 if you have any questions of if
you experience any problems with equipment or materials.
Extended check-out Of Broward County Library
Owned Videos
Learning Resources realizes that the Broward County Library's standard
3-day checkout period is sometimes an insufficient length of time for
faculty needs. If you require an extended period of use, please contact
Learning Resources at extension 2260.
Make-Up Test Administration
As a courtesy to faculty and students, under certain conditions LRC
staff will proctor student make-up tests. Faulty will need to provide
the LRC with a copy of the test, complete instructions (whether the
test taker can use calculators, notes, etc.), and if it is a timed test,
the time allowed. Please come to the LRC to pick up a copy of the "cover
sheet" outlining the information needed, and we'll show you where you
may pick up your students' completed tests.
Requests For Purchasing Non-Print Materials
Due to our partnership with the Broward County Library, Learning Resources
receives an annual allocation of funds, which are earmarked for the
acquisition of instructional videos and software. You may submit requests
for the acquisition of new materials to the LRC at any time throughout
the year. All newly acquired materials are catalogued into the LRC reference
database. For the classroom use of non-print materials, please submit
your request on a Non-Print Materials Request Form. If you have any
questions regarding this please call extension 2253.
Electronic Classroom
Room 135/136 in the Learning Resources Center houses a networked lab
of 36 state-of-the-art desktop computers. Faculty are encouraged to
schedule this lab on an "as needed" basis for individual class meetings
involving Internet research, specialized computer related class projects
and electronic presentations. Faculty can review the Electronic Classroom
Guide for complete operating instructions and an overview of available
software programs. If you would like an orientation or to check on availability,
please contact the LRC at ext. 2260.
