Commencement Recap Fall 2017

On Thursday, December 14, 2017, Broward College conferred nearly 6,000 degrees and certificates at its 87th commencement ceremony at the BB&T Center. During the ceremony, President J. David Armstrong, Jr. conferred 385 bachelor’s degrees, 4,128 associate degrees, and 1,052 technical certificates to students who represent almost 100 countries.

The keynote address was delivered by Judge Florence Taylor Barner,
the first black female judge elected in Broward County, the first
Haitian-American elected judge in the history of the state and
one of only two Haitian-American judges in Florida. She was
recently named a Top 20 Under 40 Young Professional by the
Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce and was recognized
in 2016 as one of America’s Most Honored Professionals -
Top 10 Percent.
