Next Up for Financial Aid….Now you need to Finish What You Start
ENROLLMENT
What happens if I do not attend your classes?
If you do not attend classes, then you can expect to be billed back for the funds you received. Further, you can expect the poor grades to negatively impact your academic record.
Does Financial Aid cover all credits?
No, financial aid DOES NOT cover non-credit classes and does not cover over 30 credits of remedial coursework. If your schedule includes any of the above, and you fail to pay your part, your class schedule will be dropped for non-payment. Please be aware of this because it is very difficult to re-enroll in classes.
How is the financial aid award calculated?
Awards are based on enrollment. Full time is 12 or more credit hours. 9-11 credits will give you a ¾ time award and 6-8 will give you a ½ time award. Any credits less than 6 will depend on your eligibility. All loan students must be in 6 or more credit hours.
Can I get aid at 2 schools at the same time?
No, you may only get aid at the school where you are seeking a degree. If it is Broward College you will need to complete the consortium agreement form, pay for the class at the other school and submit the form along with your paid receipt, schedule and transient form to be reimbursed. The form is available at: http://www.broward.edu/sfs/sfs/forms/page13051.html
What is a passing grade for financial aid?
In order to continue to receive financial aid you must earn a “C” or better in all of your classes. Financial aid depends on your academic performance. You must Finish What you Start. Please read the academic progress requirements at:
http://www.broward.edu/sfs/sfs/page13215.html
If you are denied financial aid because of academic progress, you may not receive any grants, loans, workstudy or scholarship money.

FINANCIAL AID FUNDS
How is my money disbursed? By Session!
Once the drop and add period ends for the term, the faculty is required to verify your enrollment. The enrollment verification process takes approximately 14 days. Once that is completed, your funds will be disbursed by session. The first disbursement of funds will pay your tuition and books. If there is a balance you can expect to receive it by September 20, 2010. If you are in session 3 classes, those funds will be disbursed by October 5th and Session 4 by November 9th.
- Attend all of your classes. Funds are disbursed based on your enrollment.
- Financial aid depends on successfully completing classes and meeting academic progress standards.
- Withdrawing from classes before the 60% point will cause you to owe money and will negatively impact your grade point average and completion rate.
What if I pay out of pocket?
If you paid out of pocket, your funds will be returned in the manner in which it was paid. For example, if you paid by credit card, your funds will be credited to your credit card.
