Q1: What should I do to receive financial aid?

A: An in-depth, step-by-step guide to applying for and receiving financial aid is available at this site: How To Apply For Aid.

Q2: What types of financial aid are available?

A:The four main types of financial aid are scholarships, loans, grants, and student employment. Please see the Types of Aid  page for information about each of these categories and the programs Broward College sponsors.

Q3: How can I find out if I qualify for financial aid?

A :General eligibility requirements for financial aid as well as some qualifications specific to certain assistance programs can be found on the Eligibility page. Eligibility status is determined by a federal or state processor when you apply for aid. You will receive a response from the federal processor in about 14 days. Broward College will also receive an electronic response if you select Broward College in the school code area.

Q4: Where can I find information about applying for and receiving aid?

A: The Student Guides section has important information about applying for and receiving financial aid both from federal, state and institutional sources.

Q5: How can I contact Student Financial Services or other areas?

A: You can e-mail Student Financial services at  finserv@broward.edu  or contact any of the available campuses by mail, phone, or in person. Contact information for each campus at Campus Locations.

Q1: How much will college cost for me?

A: This depends on many factors. Several estimated budgets for students are available on the Cost of Attendance page, as well as estimates of college fees per credit.

Q2: What should I do if my family's income changes?

A:  If your family's income undergoes a change that you think would affect your financial aid status, fill out a form for a request for Professional Judgment of Income Adjustment. It can be found on the Forms page or accessed directly:

Q3: What should I do if my address changes?

A: Contact the Registration Office of your campus if either your phone number or address changes at any point during your financial aid process. If you are a work study student and your address or phone number changes at any time you must also fill out a Payroll Address Change form. It can be found on the Forms page or accessed directly:

Q4: Will I have any out-of-pocket expenses?

A: Yes, you may have to pay for books and video rentals while waiting to receive your aid. If you do not meet the deadline dates.

    • July 5th - Fall Term
    • October - Winter Term
    • March - Spring Term

You may have to pay out of pocket expenses.  If you apply for aid and are not eligible for funding you may also have to pay out of pocket expenses

Please note:  you will also be dropped from your classes unless you pay for your tuition out-of-pocket.  You will be reimbursed for tuition once your aid has been awarded and disbursed.

Q1: What scholarships does Broward College provide?

A: Broward College offers various scholarship programs. You may qualify for these, so be sure to fill in Broward College as your 'college of choice' when you complete your FAFSA on the Web. You must pay for your tuition if a decision is not made on your scholarship application and you have not been awarded any other financial aid source. For more information, see the page on Scholarships and Foundation Scholarships.

Q2: Where can I find and apply for scholarships?

A: There are a number of resources on the internet that can be used to locate private scholarships. Take a look at the Scholarship Searches section of the Financial Aid Resources.
