Two current students and three graduates of Broward College’s Dental Hygiene program recently attended the Florida Dental Hygiene Association’s conference in Orlando. At the conference, the two current students – Sara Freeman, of Lauderhill, and Melissa Rodriguez, of Miramar, were elected president and secretary, respectively, of the Florida Student American Dental Hygiene Association.
One of the Broward College program’s graduates won second place in the table clinic competition.
Joyce Abraham, associate dean of the dental hygiene program, says Freeman and Rodriguez’s accomplishments are noteworthy.
“This is quite an honor since there are 19 dental hygiene programs in our state that send representatives and two of the four board positions are now held by our students,” Abraham said.
