Emergency Aid Program

Broward College has an Emergency Fund designed to assist students who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of a temporary hardship related to unexpected situation. This aid is not a loan, and students are not expected to pay back the funds disbursed.

Types of eligible Emergency Aid include:

Academic Supplies
    Some examples include:
    • ​Loss of Academic Supplies

    • Lab Coats

    • Graduation Cap and Gown

      Some examples include:
      • ​Essential Utility Bills

      • Sudden Loss of Housing

      • Temporary Housing

      • Eviction

      • ​Physical and Mental Medical Emergencies

      Some examples include:
      • Bus/Train Passes

      • Gas/fuel

      • Uber/Lyft

      The Emergency Aid Application is Closed

      • Have an immediate and short-term financial need due to a sudden, unexpected, or unforeseen occurrence that requires immediate attention

      • Be a Degree-Seeking Broward College student

      • Complete and submit the required Student Emergency Fund Application  

      • Be able to provide acceptable supporting documentation as applicable

      ​The following stipulations apply:

      • A student is not guaranteed funds disbursement based on submitted application.

      • Grant to not exceed $750.00.

      • Only one submission request allowed per year.

      • Students must be currently enrolled BC students. Non-degree Seeking and International Students do not qualify.

      • Incomplete applications will be automatically disqualified.

      • Student should receive notification of decision within 2-3 operational business days once all required documentation are submitted.
      • Disbursed funds may affect Financial Aid and/or could be subject to State/Federal taxes. These expenses are the responsibility of the student not the institution. 

      Exceptions to fund guidelines and stipulations will be considered on a case by case scenario.
