Career & Technical Education Reporting

A primary function of the Career & Technical Education Department is maintaining compliance under the Carl D. Perkins Education Grant in addition to various state, federal, and SACS guidelines. The department also works in conjunction with college administration and faculty to generate internal reports, evaluate programs of study and administer grants.

The reporting function is essential for: maintaining accountability; identifying needs; developing solutions; gauging the effectiveness of programs and services; and putting into place processes that demonstrate continuos improvement.

Program Viability Reviews

Program Viability Reviews, also known as Level II Vocational Program Reviews, help to ensure students receive a high quality education that will prepare them for immediate entry into the workforce.  These highly extensive reports are conducted once every five years for every career and technical education program. The reports focus on curriculum, enrollment, student completions, faculty resources, equipment and/or laboratory needs, and local workforce data. Results of the Program Viability Review are submitted to the State (as a Level II Program Review) and are also utilized by the College to persistently improve upon our educational programs and services.

Carl D. Perkins Performance Measures

The Career & Technical Education department continuously strives to improve upon annual Perkins Performance Measures. These measures includes four core indicators to assess state and local progress in improving the postsecondary outcomes of students who pursue vocational education:

  • Attainment of challenging state established academic and vocational and technical skill proficiencies.
  • Attainment of a secondary school diploma or its equivalent, or a postsecondary degree or credential.
  • Placement in, retention in, and completion of postsecondary education or advanced training, placement in military service, or placement and retention in employment.
  • Participation in and completion of vocational and technical education programs leading to nontraditional training and employment.
