Dr. Donald P. Astrab brings years of experience in the world of education to Broward College.

He currently serves in several capacities at the College: he is the Vice Provost of Academic Operations, Analytics and Communication for the College’s Judson A. Samuels South Campus and its Centers; he was named Chief Operating Officer; and more recently, was appointed Interim President by the Broward College District Board of Trustees as they conduct a nationwide search for a permanent president. He also supports the College's registrar, curriculum services, accessibility resources, international education and auxiliary services.

Since joining Broward College in 2014, Dr. Astrab has served in various other roles, ranging from special assistant to the Provost, Dean of the Partnership Center at Coral Springs, Associate Dean for Science & Wellness on the North Campus, and more recently Senior Dean for Analytics, Strategy, and Communication.

Dr. Astrab has served and supported Florida's community college system for the past 30 years.

He began his career as a full-time professor, teaching chemistry for Eastern Florida State College in 1992. He held numerous leadership positions throughout his career that included executive vice president, collegewide dean of technical education and department chair of science and technology at Eastern Florida State College as well as other academic leadership positions with Polk State College. Dr. Astrab also served as president of Nassau Community College, the largest single-campus community college in New York.

Dr. Astrab earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry & biology from the State University of New York, College at Oswego, a master’s degree in public health, and his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of Hawaii.
