Scholarships

Choose from one of our scholarships offered below

The “Irm's” Scholar Award is named in honor of past Honors College Director Dr. Irmgard Bocchino. The award is merit-based, "stackable" and offers prospective students a waiver for tuition and fees for up to the amount of credits required to earn an Honors Associate's in Arts degree. This award covers up to 30 credits per academic year (including summer) plus a book stipend.

The IRMs scholarship begins coverage during the Fall Term of each academic year. The deadline to apply for our IRMs Scholarship is Wednesday, May 1ST, 2019. Following our deadline, students are encouraged to frequently check their emails, as there will be a notification regarding the status of their application. Interviews will take place during the summer term, and students will be notified if they received the scholarship before the beginning of the Fall Term.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

Students must be active members of the Honors College and work towards completion of the Honors Associate of Arts Degree, which consists of the completion of 18 Honors credits (including IDH2121). Students must be enrolled full-time, twelve or more credits, for the Fall and Winter semesters for four consecutive semesters. Students must maintain a 3.5 Overall/Honors GPA and enroll in at least three Honors credits in the Fall semester of each year until completing the Honors Associate of Arts requirements.

Residency and other restrictions may apply. Students must have a completed FAFSA on file with the College before the waiver is applied and the book supplement funds are disbursed.

This is a highly competitive award, so be sure to apply early.

Prospective students must fill out the IRMs application form.

In order to support the educational growth of Honors students, The Robert “Bob” Elmore Honors College offers scholarship support to Honors students who want to participate in one of Broward College’s international study abroad programs that are available in the summer. Contact the Honors College office at HonorsCollege@broward.edu for more information.

Transfer Scholarships

Many local universities offer additional scholarships if you are graduating from Broward College with your associate’s degree and want to pursue a bachelor’s degree, or if you simply wish to transfer schools. However, the Honors College does not offer a transfer scholarship.  Rather, we work with students to secure transfer scholarships from four-year institutions.

Baccalaureate Program Honors Certificate

A Valuable Partnership with Honors Benefits

The Robert "Bob" Elmore Honors Institute is pleased to be partnering with Broward College's Baccalaureate programs to offer an Honors Certificate to outstanding Baccalaureate students. If you want to earn an Honors Certificate, use the Baccalaureate Honors Application form and consult with your program advisor to ensure that you register for Honors sections of your classes.

Admission to the Baccalaureate Program Honors Certificate program has been suspended, indefinitely.  Please contact your program manager or the Honors Institute for more information.

Students entering a Baccalaureate program with an Associates degree are eligible to apply to the Honors Institute with a minimum 3.50 Overall/Honors GPA in lower division college coursework.

Students who are entering a Baccalaureate program without completing an Associated degree are eligible if they are within 9 credits of earning the Associates Degree and have a minimum GPA of 3.50 in lower division college coursework.

To earn the Honors Certificate, every student in a Baccalaureate program must successfully complete three honors classes and receive the requisite honors credit. You must also complete an Honors section of the program's capstone course, publish an Honors Thesis, and maintain a minimum 3.50 Overall/Honors GPA.

If you are already enrolled in a Baccalaureate Program and have a 3.5  Overall/Honors GPA, you may be able to fulfill the Honors Certificate requirements by completing an Honors by Contract. Consult with your program advisor or campus Honors Coordinator.
