Spring 2024 Commencement Highlights

Please meet with or call your academic advisor to confirm your eligibility. Please note that the team that plans graduation does not determine eligibility nor has access to your academic records.

An email to eligible graduates will go out on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from commencement@broward.edu. If you do not receive this email, there is likely an issue with your graduation requirements and you should book an appointment with your advisor ASAP.

The last day to add graduate names to the Commencement Program Book is Tuesday, November 26, 2024. If you have not met all of your graduation requirements by this date, you may still be eligible to graduate, but may not appear in the Grad Book.

The ceremony will take place Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Amerant Bank Arena.

Graduates are asked to arrive at 11:00 a.m. to check-in.

Doors open for guests at noon.

No. Parking at Amerant Bank Arena will be free to all guests and graduates. 

Yes, tickets are distributed on a first come, first serve basis. 

Ticket distribution will begin on Thursday, October 24, 2024, and end on Friday, December 6, 2024. 

If you are not on the eligible grad list you will not be able to pick up tickets and you should make an appointment with your Academic Advisor. 

Each graduate will receive five (5) guest tickets for the graduation ceremony. 

Tickets may be picked up at the Broward College Bookstore.

There are two cords that are given out by the college; the Graduating with Honors Cord and Honors College cord. To receive the Honors College cord you must have been enrolled in the Honors College. For questions regarding this specific cord please contact The Robert "Bob" Elmore Honors College.

Graduating with Honors cords are given out at the Bookstore with your Commencement tickets. To qualify for this cord you must have a minimum 3.25 grade point average. The calculation of the grade point average for honors includes the Broward College record and any previous credit transferred to Broward College.

Per college policy 6Hx2-5.31 (PDF), students may only wear regalia approved by the college during the commencement ceremony. Approved items are Academic Honors cords, PTK stoles, Honors College cords, and veteran medals.

Grad Fest is a three-day celebratory event put on by the College Bookstore. You can enjoy music, food, door prizes, grad cap decorating, and more while you purchase announcements or class rings on-site. The sale of cap and gowns and diploma frames takes place for the remainder of the semester. So, even if you miss Grad Fest, you can still purchase these important items.

Each main campus has a bookstore where the cap and gown set can be purchased for $61.98. If you are an online or distance student, you can purchase your items on the Oak Hall Cap and Gown website.

The last day to order online is November 8, 2024, after this date please visit a College bookstore.

Yes, get creative and have fun. We encourage you to apply your self-expression to your cap. When you finish, make sure you share a photo using the hashtag #BCProudGrad

A printed diploma will arrive six (6) weeks after graduation. However, eligible grads will receive a digital version of their diploma via email within two (2) days following graduation.

Disability-related accommodations for the ceremony can be requested by emailing adacoordinator@broward.edu. The Commencement facility is ADA-compliant.

No. Broward College hosts two ceremonies a year. Summer grads are invited to participate in the Fall ceremony each December.

The Following Items are Prohibited: 

  • No Purses, Backpacks, Backpack Purses, Cinch Bags, Sling Bags or Draw String Bags 
  • No Clutches or Purses larger than 4" X 6" 
  • No professional cameras or any camera with detachable lenses are allowed 
  • No Audio or Video Recording Devices, GoPros, Laptops, or Selfie Sticks 
  • No Wrapped Gifts or Balloons 
  • No Signs larger than 2' X 2' or with posts of any kind 
  • No Strollers 
  • No weapons of any kind (Knives, Pocket Knives, Mace, Tasers, Etc.)

Do I have to walk through a metal detector?

Ensuring the safety of our guests, artists and employees is always a top priority of Hard Rock Live. Be advised that for all events held at Hard Rock Live, venue security will utilize a Walk-Through Metal Detector to scan all guests entering the venue. A secondary measure of bag searches and wanding will be conducted if warranted.

Post Graduation Questions

Update your address to the location where you wish to receive your diploma or certificate sent in the mail. Diplomas will be mailed to the address on your record, within 4 - 5 weeks of the official graduation date. If your mailing address changes after the graduation date, please ensure you have mail-forwarding arranged through the United States Postal Service.

Duplicate/Replacement Diploma

To request a replacement or duplicate diploma complete the Duplicate/Replacement Diploma form. For questions regarding diplomas, please email diplomas@broward.edu. Each duplicate or replacement diploma incurs a $10.00 fee.

If you were not able to walk in this past ceremony and want to be considered for the Fall 2024 ceremony, you can make a request to Advising. The Advising teams will be able to verify graduation and add the graduate to the list for commencement tickets. Please note that the spring graduate’s name will not be printed in the book as a Fall graduate.
