Health Benefits

All full-time employees, their spouse/domestic partners and eligible dependents qualify for benefits on the first of the month following 30 consecutive days of employment.

Enjoy a very low-cost option with an attached Health Reimbursement account funded by the College.

 

Dental Plan

At no cost for full-time employee coverage and low cost for family coverage.  Broward College’s Dental Clinic provides cleanings at a reduced cost for all employees.

Automatically enrolled in Broward College Long Term Disability plan at no cost.

Preventive Services

Flu vaccines, health screenings, personalized coaching and web portal to manage it all.

Employee assistance program (EAP)

Confidential access to professional counseling services. No cost for you or household members to consult with EAP counselor.

Sick leave pool

Eligible to join during open enrollment after one year of full-time employment. Donate 2 sick days and then you can apply for up to a maximum of 40 days, after accrued sick and vacation leave is depleted.

Vision Care

Low cost vision plan available for full-time employees.  Broward College’s Vision Care Clinic offers complete eye exams at a reduced cost for all employees.”

Group Life Insurance and Accidental Death (AD&D)

Full-time employees are covered at no cost at one-times annual salary up to $250,000.  Additional life insurance coverage can be purchased for the employee, spouse and children.

Optional Insurance Coverage

Additional Insurance policies available for Short-Term Disability, Cancer, Accident, Hospital Confinement, Critical Illness and Long-Term Care.

Educational Benefits

Tuition Assistance

The Tuition Assistance Program provides fee waivers to full-time employees, their spouses or domestic partners, and dependent children 24 years of age or younger for courses taken at Broward College minus the associated fees.

Tuition Reimbursement

The Tuition Reimbursement Program provides reimbursement to full time regular employees and is paid at the current in-state tuition rate based on the average of FAU and FIU's tuition rate

Professional Development

Funding available for travel to seminars, conferences and workshops for full-time regular employees

Sabbatical Leave

Continuing contract faculty and administrators can apply for paid leave for initiation/continuation of degree, formal study, work practicum, research or other professional development activities related to current or future Broward College employment.

Calendar & Leave Benefits

Broward College offers to its full-time Administrators and Professional Technical Staff (PTS) time off such as vacation, sick and personal time off. Faculty are eligible sick and personal time off. Other types of paid and unpaid leaves are available to our full-time employees to support family, personal, professional and civic needs. Broward College observes eight federal holidays and closes for Spring Break as well as up to two weeks for winter break.

Optional Legal Plan provides its members with legal advice and discounted fee representation on all types of legal services.

Full-time and part-time employees may choose either the Florida Retirement System (FRS) Pension Plan or the FRS Investment Plan. Employer contribution in accordance to FL Statues after vesting. Faculty, administrators and some exempt professional technical staff may choose the Community College Optional Retirement Program (CCORP) with immediate vesting.

  • May participate in supplemental retirement 403(b) and/or 457(b) plans any time during the year
  • Allow you to tailor your own retirement package to meet individual needs by electing how much money to contribute
  • Amount is automatically deducted from your paycheck before taxes
