Broward College (the "College") offers mobile text messaging programs to communicate with students, applicants, and community members regarding academic advising, registration, campus events, financial aid, and other student services. By opting into any of our SMS programs, you agree to these Text Messaging Terms and Conditions.

  1. Program Description: By subscribing to College text notifications, you agree to receive automated text messages from us about your institution at the phone number you provided when you subscribed and that the messages may be sent via automatic telephone dialing system or other technology. Consent is not a condition of enrollment. If you are under 18 years of age, you must confirm you have express parental or guardian consent to opt into non-emergency College text messaging programs.
  2. Opt-Out: Reply STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE or QUIT to opt-out and HELP for customer support. You may receive an additional text message confirming your decision to opt-out.
  3. Getting Help: If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance.
  4. Carrier Liability: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  5. Rates: As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. Message frequency is recurring and may vary depending on your interactions with the College and academic calendar deadlines. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.

  7. Compliance: The College acts strictly in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) The College is obligated to protect students’ personally identifiable data and contact information that is not public directory information. Your mobile number will remain confidential. The College will not sell or share your text messaging data with third-party marketers.
  8. Courtesy Service & Disclaimer of Liability: Text messaging is provided as an informational courtesy and convenience. Failure to receive, read, or access a text message notification does not relieve students, applicants, or community members of their responsibility to comply with official College deadlines, fee payments, academic requirements, or administrative procedures.
  9. Governing Law: These Text Messaging Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action arising from these terms shall be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Broward County, Florida.
