Admissions Criteria

ATD in Emergency Medical Technology
Application Criteria:

  • High School Graduate 
  • Complete Broward College Application.
  • Complete Health Science Limited Access Application (academic advisor signature required).
  • If applicant is a transfer student, official transcripts from all previous colleges attended must be received prior to admission.
  • Once the application for admission is submited, each student is required to successfully complete a drug screening. Please be advised that certain over-the-counter supplements and alternative medicinal products, including but not limited to CBD, THC, Cannabinoid, and Cannabinoid Oil may trigger a positive result, and consequently, the student will not be able to be admitted to the Health Science program. A second drug tested sample is not allowed per Broward College Admissions Procedure A6Hx2-5.01. The links are provided below.

Central Campus (Davie), Bldg. 8, Room 129 or 130, Mon.-Thurs., 8:00am to 4:30pm.

North Campus (Coconut Creek), Bldg. 46, Room 252, Mon.-Thurs., 8:00am to 4:00pm.

 Once the application for admission is submitted, candidate must complete the required health science screenings through COMPLIO (background checks, finger print, and drug screening). Completing a medical physical, and hold a current CPR card from the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) will be required to retain a seat in the EMT program.

Application Periods:     
  • Sept 26 – Nov 27 - Program begins in January 2019 - Spring (20192) 
  • Feb 5 – April 4 - Program begins in May 2019 - Summer (20193)
  • May 22 – July 3 - Program begins in August 2019 - Fall (20201)

Certified Paramedic Certificate

Application Criteria:

Must have proof of completion of an Emergency Medical Technician accredited program. Must be eligible to sit for the NREMT and become State of Florida licensed within the first term of the program.

  • Once the application for admission is submitted, each student is required to successfully complete a drug screening. AS in Emergency Medical Services

Application Criteria:

 Program for students who have:

  • Successfully earned their Paramedic Certificate prior to application OR
  • Possess a current State of Florida Department of Health EMT License OR
  • Possess a current State of Florida Department of Health Paramedic License.
  • Once the application for admission is submitted, each student is required to successfully complete a drug screening. Please be advised that certain over-the-counter supplements and alternative medicinal products, including but not limited to CBD, THC, Cannabinoid, and Cannabinoid Oil may trigger a positive result, and consequently, the student will not be able to be admitted to the Health Science program. Requires a Broward College Application, and a Health Science Limited Application  ​

Application Period:      Open Ended – Begins each term

Admission Selection Criteria:

In order to apply for the AS in EMS, the student must possess a current Florida State either EMT or Paramedic License and complete  all required general education requirements for the AS in EMS degree.
*EMS2311 must be completed at Broward College 

*All EMS AS Students must complete at least 19 credits at Broward College to satisfy residency requirements
