National Firefighter Selection Inventory (NFSI)

The  National Firefighter Selection Inventory (NFSI) is used to select qualified individuals for  Emergency Medical Services programs at Broward College. The NFSI combines a comprehensive cognitive ability measure with a measure of behavioral orientation (a personality-type measure). The exam is used widely in the EMS training field.

​Number of Attempts: ​Unlimited (Only limited by retest timing)
​Number of Questions: ​155
Test Content: ​There are 2 sections: 
  • Cognitive (105 questions)
  • Non-Cognitive (50 questions)

​Score Expiration: ​NFSI scores are valid 2 years
​Time Limit: ​2 hours 30 minutes (Total test time is approximately 3 hours)
