Broward College is committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and student-focused environment while ensuring fiscal responsibility. At the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie, the College has leased two pieces of land to a private developer. These 99-year leases are mixed-use developments—not student housing—and include necessary upgrades to the campus's stormwater system. The South Phase lease covers 19 acres, has no termination clause and is already under construction. The North Phase lease covers 16 acres, and does include a termination clause.

Needed improvements to campus include completing the stormwater system to address flooding, modernizing the law-enforcement driving track to meet current standards, and rebuilding parking lots on the west side of campus to ensure student access and safety.

The District Board of Trustees is considering several options, including a settlement agreement that would return full stewardship of the North Phase lease to the College while addressing these needed improvements. Broward College has a renewed student-first approach to campus development, with a focus on stronger campus infrastructure and prioritizing spaces that enhance the student experience both inside and outside the classroom. The College's goal is to ensure that any future development aligns with the College’s mission, values, and long-term vision for academic excellence.
