Scholarships

A scholarship is a financial aid award that does not need to be repaid. Broward College offers scholarships based on merit, financial need, degree choice, and more. Scholarship funding is limited and matching does not guarantee an award.

Many of these are direct awards, meaning you’re automatically considered based on your profile!

To be considered for a scholarship you must:

  1. Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and required documents. (International students are not required to complete the FAFSA)
  2. Be admitted to the College in a degree or eligible certificate program
  3. Be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits
  4. Have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA

You are encouraged to log in to your myBC account and answer qualifying questions to be matched to additional scholarship opportunities.

Are you a 2026 high school or GED graduate from Broward County?

If so, you may be eligible for a tuition-free Associate degree! Whether you are pursuing an Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, you can potentially start your college journey without the burden of tuition.

  • Provides an opportunity for high school graduates with high academic achievement.
  • Students must meet eligibility requirements while in high school and inform the Florida Department of Education of the school he/she will attend; the Bright Futures school code for Broward College is 062.

  • Enroll in a degree seeking or eligible certificate program and begin their studies at Broward College on or before their 22nd birthday.
  • Scholarship awards are based on the number of credit hours in which a student is enrolled each semester.
  • Applicants must obtain a referral from an approved mentorship organization.

  • Provides an opportunity for students that have completed at least 75% of their degree program.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • Applicants must have an SAI score of 2,100 to 6,500 (as determined by FAFSA completion).
  • Applicants must reside in the tri-county area (Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County).

Career & technical scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution.

Studying abroad is an academic program that provides students the opportunity to travel the world while earning credit toward their degree. 

Before you start planning your trip, take a moment to check and see if you fulfill the study abroad eligibility requirements:

  • You must be 18 years old or older.
  • You need to have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher (some programs may have additional GPA requirements).
  • You need to be a degree-seeking student with 12 semester hours (including ENC 1101).
  • You need to have a passport that is still valid 6 months after the date of your return to the United States.

The William E. Greene Scholarship covers program costs for one term of study abroad at one of the Broward College study abroad programs:

  1. International College of Seville (ICS) in Seville, Spain
  2. Universidad Veritas in San Jose, Costa Rica
  3. Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria

Two of four scholarships are awarded every year: one for the Spring and one for the Fall terms. Students who apply for the scholarship will be asked to indicate their preference for one of the locations by specifying their first, second, and third choices and why they made this selection.

Additional Scholarship Information

If you receive a scholarship that is not awarded by Broward College, please take your scholarship check to the Cashier's Office. This applies to ALL checks, including those you may receive as a result of a scholarship award posted to your account. Do not send any checks to the Financial Aid Office, as the Financial Aid Office does not process checks. Doing so will cause a delay in posting your scholarship award. You must be currently enrolled at Broward College or the Cashier's Office will not accept the check. Please refer to the 'How to Pay' tab on the Cashier page for more information on this process.

Broward College is required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to determine the tax status of all students receiving payments from the college. Student payments may include financial aid grants, scholarships, prize monies, etc.
  • Upon determination of tax status, the college may be required to report and/or withhold federal income tax from a payment. 
  • Refer to IRS Publication 970 for Scholarships, Fellowship Grants, Grants, and Tuition Reductions regulations.
  • You may use this tool, provided by the IRS, to determine if the educational assistance you receive is taxable.
